Dochula pass, 108 stupa with a stunning view of Himalayas range

The trek trail ascends progressively till you reach the pass called sinchula, which is about 3490 m. From this point, if the weather is clear one can see Phajoding Monastery which is just above Thimphu. After 2 kms walk, you can view Thinley Gang village, Talo Monastery and the motor high way towards the ancient capital of Bhutan. 

The trek from the pass is more or less downhill to the camp site then cross the Pochu River (Male River), which drains the remote Lunana region. You will have a steady half day climb into a forest of scattered long needle chirpiness’.

Summary: The Trek is an easy low altitude trek along an old walking route between Thimphu and Punakha. It is possible to do this trek all year long, but the best recommended time for doing is trek is during the months of March, April, May, September, October and November.

Day 1: Dechencholing- Chamina.

The trek starts at Dechecholing which is north of Thimphu the capital of Bhutan. You will be drive to Pangrizam, the start point of the trip from where you will begin your trek towards Shong Pang, and continue past some picturesque Bhutanese Villages to your campsite just above the Chamina Village.

Day 2: Chamina- Dopshigang Pang

On the second day the trail gradually climbs up to the Sinchula Pass, which is at an altitude of 3400 meters. Weather permitting, trekkers can catch a glimpse of the Phojodin Monastery mad the surrounding country side. After trekking a couple of kilometers further you will cross the Thinleygang village and later the Talo Monastery. The trek then continues downhill till you reach the main highway to Punakha. We continue a little further till we reach our campsite at Dopshigang Pang.

Day 3: Dpshigang Pang- ChortenNingpo

We continue our trek to Chorten Ningpo as we pass through thick forests, villages and rice paddies along the valley. The Chorten Ningpo is closely connected to the legend of Drukpa Kuenley, who the people of Bhutan lovingly refer to as the Devine Madman. We will camp just outside the temples premises

Day 4: Chorten Ningpo – Zomlingthang

We begin the final leg of our short trek today as will take us past several villages to the road head where you will be picked up by your vehicles and driven to Punakha.

SURCHARGE

Individual tourists and smaller groups of less than three persons shall be subject to the following surcharges:

a)    Single Individual: US$ 40/ per night halt

b)    Group of 2: US$ 30/ per person per night halt

c)    The 10% agency commission payable to agents abroad shall not be deductible from the surcharge.

d)  The surcharge will not be applicable to representatives of foreign travel agents on business study or promotional visit duly approved and cleared by TCB.
